In the months leading up to this trip, my boys and I heard a lot about Mt. Osceola and Mt. Tecumseh. Both are 4,000 footers my husband had done with his family growing up. Our first full day in New Hampshire we decided to go for the gold and tackle Mt. Osceola. We got to the trailhead pretty early and the small parking lot was pretty full. We did pass some people, but not too many- thank goodness. We heard lots of new birdsong, and saw some adorable chipmunks. My youngest son has been very excited to see new colors and types of mushrooms. The hike itself is ranked moderate, and I would say that is true for both me as an adult and for our kids (if you hike regularly). It is however a very, very rocky hike, and makes its relative shortness of about 3 miles to the summit seem, and take, a lot longer than you might expect. But Wow! Just Wow! The summit of Mt. Osceola does not disappoint. It is worth all of the switchbacks and all of the rocks. Since we got a pretty early start, we had room to ourselves at the top to take photos and have a snack without a massive amount of people. It is definitely one of the most breathtaking views I have seen on a hike, and the boys were so proud to have done their first 4,000 foot hike 💪!
At the little one's request a photo was taken of the mushroom
This little guy wasn't very shy and pretty much went about his business while we stood observing him.
Look! How cute is he with his little hands crossed?!
The terrain is no joke on Osceola.
Here are some small and medium size rocks...
and some rather large ones to navigate.
After that bumpy, rocky terrain, it's on to the slab.
Are we there yet? Just about...
But once you get there, the vista is incredible!
Mountain after mountain after mountain
Love this! 😍
Not cooperating with having his photo taken at the summit, but being true to himself- lol
Aw- Poopy Pants- he'll rally soon enough.
Here's his summit photo
There we go- nothing but sky up top!
I wonder what adventure tomorrow will bring?
